VP of Business Development

Courageous Leadership, LLC is looking for an experienced and ambitious VP of Business Development to join the executive team and support the mission of a growing research-based organization using cutting edge social science to empower leaders and interdisciplinary teams to solve complex business and interpersonal challenges under pressure. Our new VP can leverage our track record of working with top organizations such as Google, MIT, Kaiser, Columbia Medical Center, the Omidyar Network, the Australian Government and Stanford. 

This role is available immediately, and requires a 2-year commitment. The VP of Business Development will mostly work independently and be included in weekly team meetings; in the east bay of the San Francisco Bay Area or virtually if the VP of Business Development is not local.

Primary responsibilities include: developing and implementing a business development plan as well as contributing to our marketing plan. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in business development, with a focus on growing businesses and market share. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, is required. Prior experience in marketing is highly preferred
.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creating a strategic vision, identify and maximize opportunities, and execute to deliver results.
• Creating and executing segment and account level plans that include contract negotiation, integration execution, launch activities and ongoing marketing efforts for new acquisition and penetration. 
• Driving lead development and tracking lead funnel, conversion, and close rates.
• Creating compelling business cases and presenting to gain internal and external commitment.
• Navigating small, large and complex organizations, able to influence and gain stakeholder buy-in.


QUALIFICATIONS
• A passion for values-based business.
• Proven track record in sales and negotiations with C-levels executives.
• Founded, lead or helped grow consulting divisions or firms.
• 5+ years’ experience in client management, business development, or channel sales.
• Experience in product management and/or marketing.
• Exceptional analytical, communication and presentation skills.
• Background in organizational psychology, human resources, leadership development or research-based transformational work in organizations, preferred.
• A desire to be part of an early-stage executive team and motivated to help take a successful research-based consulting firm to the next level.


The VP of Business Development can leverage our Stanford-research foundation and cutting-edge science from world renowned advisors. Our latest client is USC’s new Neely Center for Leadership and Ethics. We will provide our foundation programs for their undergraduates and graduates to ensure they have the understanding and skills to be “socially fit” and ethically courageous in challenging situations in the workplace and lead values-based organizations.

Executive Assistant Intern

Courageous Leadership, LLC is looking for a motivated intern to support the executive team and mission of a growing research-based organization using cutting edge social science to empower people to take ethically courageous and wise action in challenging situations in the workplace.

 

This role is part-time, available immediately, and requires a 12-month commitment. Approximately 15 hours per week, the intern will support various projects with specific tasks as needed from day to day. This role will mostly work virtually; however, if the intern selected for this role is local to the east bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, (s)he may periodically be included in work at various locations in the East Bay. The days/times working in this role are flexible.

The intern will primarily assist our CEO, COO, and VP of Brand Strategy. The intern will also have the opportunity to work with Dr. Lynne Henderson, the creator of Social Fitness Training ™ (SFT), our evidence-based cognitive-behavioral model which helps retrain our patterns under stress. SFT was developed over the course of 25 years at a Stanford Clinic. Past clients include: Google, Stanford, Kaiser Permanente, Columbia University Medical Center, Australian Capital Territory government, MIT Sloan, Watermark and more.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administration: drafting email and other external and internal correspondence, collecting information needed for client proposals or client projects, coordinating team-wide calendar, and other tasks.
• Operations: assisting with logistics, planning, and coordination of upcoming projects and events.
• Sales: submitting generic proposals to speaker bureaus and conference organizers for participation.
• Data management: data entry, maintenance and reporting using various web-based programs.
• Other: various other ancillary tasks as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS
• Commitment to the Courageous Leadership values and interest in values-based leadership.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including writing skills.

• Outstanding organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Experience working with others in a productive and collaborative environment.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, switching among tasks as needed, and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, being proactive in identifying problems and finding solutions.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records and information.
• Proficiency in technology including Microsoft Office Suite and Google apps.

• Bachelor degree in related subject or 4+ years of related experience.
